At its south west border, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew has around 40 acres of natural British woodland and meadowland, known as the 'Conservation Area'. Hanson plc supports this area, as official 'Conservation Area Champion' through an annual donation which helps the pond and observation areas be maintained to a high standard for educational school visits. Heritage and LandscapeThames Water - Gravel Garden at Kew London water supplier Thames Water helped to educate visitors of the importance of water conservation through a creation of a Gravel Garden. Thames Water gained valuable exposure of their water conservation message through the public education boards. Squires Garden Centres - Hippeastrums Garden centre Squires have sponsored a seasonal planting of Hippeastrums in one of Kew's most iconic glasshouses, the Temperate House. Squires gained public recognition in the Temperate House through the public signage, reaching their target audience. EducationGlaxoSmithKline - Midnight Ramblers Long term supporters of Kew, GlaxoSmithKline are supporting Midnight Rambles, a series of sleepovers at Kew for children aged 8-11, over the next three years. The Midnight Ramble programme enables children to see a different side of nature at Kew, with expert guides bring the night to life. GlaxoSmithKline's support ensures that local children from low income and disadvantage backgrounds can partake in the programme. Science and ResearchKraft Foods - Coffees of the Worlds Kraft Foods, one of the largest food companies in the world, has sponsored the 'Coffees of the World' project. The recently completed project enables a better understanding of the coffee family tree, ensuring that knowledge gained will help ensure the survival of wild coffee plants and the commercial success of cultivated coffee. Rio Tinto - Plants for Life Rio Tinto is a world leader in finding, mining and processing the earth's mineral resources. Rio Tinto and Kew have developed an increasingly close relationship over more than a decade of working together, culminating in the development of the Plants for Life Partnership, a five-year commitment between Kew and Rio Tinto, supporting a series of joint projects in Chile, Madagascar and Brazil. Following a recent joint review, Kew and Rio Tinto have committed to a four year collaboration in 2004 - 2007. Through this partnership, Kew and Rio Tinto are working together to ensure more sustainable development and the conservation and management of biodiversity. Brewing plc sponsored 'Something's Brewing at Kew', a festival in the Princess of Wales Conservatory. This has resulted in the CRM initiative 'Kew Brew', which received widespread media interest. A percentage of every bottle sold is donated to Kew. GlaxoSmithKline sponsored Chihuly: Gardens of Glass exhibition in 2005. Singapore Airlines were the official Airline Partner of the Kew Orchid Festival 2006. Chiswick Honda sponsored the Friends Open Evenings in 2006. Gifts in KindBritish Airways - have donated free flights for conservation work through their Communities and Conservation Scheme.
